Sit down. Stand up.

I've realised i can out sit anyone in my family. No matter what shit they put on the tv, what stuff they ask me to do, what crap they talk about, i can out sit them. I'm the last one sitting here at night. Still reading, or messing around on the computer or watching the tv. I'm the last one here.

Maybe that's my super power?! Or maybe i should get up and move about a bit more. I've done some running today and I've sorted out some of my work so i'm not wasting loadsa time. I'm just a bit fed up of sitting around now.

Gonna help Dean move into his flat tomorrow and really start my work going. Decided i'm gonna get my title sorted for my essay tomorrow. That doesn't sound that ambitious but it is probably the most important bit, to broad i'm fucked, too specific, it's too hard to argue...... So that's my aim for tomorrow. But for now i'm gonna watch the last couple of Heroes episodes and make a cup of tea.

xXx...................cup of tea darlin?? ;)

Not Exactly A Christmas Carol

Christmas is over for another year and to be honest i'm not too crushed by it. I used to never want it to end, the endless playing and building and eating for those 2 weeks you get off of school. But now i just want the new year to come and hurry the fuck up.

I think I might be getting old, but i think i see where my parents were coming from all these years. There's just loadsa stuff to get on with and lots of things i wanna be doing instead of hanging round my house.

I have a few things for the new year i'm gonna try and do. 1. Get fit, 2. Increase my Björn Borg collection, 3. Get that job at Dean's surgery, 4. look to get a place to live next year, 5. Take Nicole out for a nice dinner.

Roll on 2009!!!

The Midfield

4 players make up the engine room. Any game is won or lost here.

Haven't updated this team for a while. So here's my all time favourite midfield. Hard to pick but i think all these guys would make anyone's top ten at least.

No. 6

Name: Johan Cruijff

Nationality: Netherlands

D.O.B: 25/07/1947 (61)

Playing Career: 1964-1984

One of the members of the Dutch Football team of the 1970's which played under the philosophy of 'total football', managed by Rinus Michels. They astonished the world with their attacking play and creative genious. Cruijff became european footballer of the year 3 times in 1971,72 and 73. Playing 11 years at Ajax before moving to Barcelona, Cruijff was a magician and is without a doubt the most influential Dutch player of all time, scoring 33 goals in 48 appearances, an amazing goal:game ratio at international level for a midfielder.

How many other football players have a move named after them? The move in question is the 'Cruijff Turn', where Cruijff would invite defending players to tackle him when he had the ball at his feet, then turn the opposite way rolling the ball backwards with one foot and turning his body 180 degrees in the direction of the standing foot. He then basically legged it away from the defender exploiting his amazing pace. Creative, not afraid to take on players and capable of scoring goals, he makes up the left flank of my midfield.

No. 8

Name: Paul Scholes

Nationality: English

D.O.B: 16/11/1974 (34)

Playing Career: 1993-present

Scholes is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated players of the last ten years. He has been part of a Man Utd midfield that has become the most successful team in English football for over ten years. He has won every medal there is available in club football. Scholes is a quiet man, never speaking to the media or getting caught up in the celebrity lifestyle that becomes available to footballers of such stature.

He is the kind of player i would love to be, a traditional central midfielder. Not one of these modern 'attacking free role creative pansies', Scholes has a fiery temper and a unique awareness of the game around him. He seems to plan moves out in his head before they have happened, making him one of the most creative midfielders around. Scholes is made to play in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, balancing his forward runs and blistering shots with aggressive and tireless defensive play.

Scholes was overlooked by previous England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, who opted to play Frank Lampard in front of Scholes in centre midfield, forcing Scholes onto the left wing, where he is wasted. This forced Scholes to retire from international football in 2004 after the european championships in Portugal. This was a big loss to England and subsequent managers have tried and failed to tempt Scholes back into the international scene ever since.

I think Scholes is a fantastic player, and is my choice for 1 half of a 2 man central midfield.

This is just 2 of my midfield.... the rest will come soon.....

Greener

Me and Tony have decided to try and be a bit greener, we were sorting through aload of stuff to throw away today and neither of us could face just throwing it away anymore.
So we decided to go down to the local hardware shop and get 3 bins, one for metal, one for paper and one for plastic. So we're gonna try and recycle our shit. There's a place we can put all the stuff we collect down the road. So we'll see how this goes.

Save the bottles, save the planet.

I'm a man who misses his girlfriend right now. So i'm keeping myself busy with anything i can. And darlin, i've started conquering guitar hero now.... so watch out girl.

Christmas is coming!!!!! Get Busy!!!!

Christmas

I've always liked christmas time. And i've always managed to not do any work for the whole holiday and still do alright in most stuff i've done. But i think that has to change this year. I have this big essay to do for the end of January, and my BSc project to start on the 12th. I have no idea what i'm doing for the project except the title, and i am shit scared about it. It's like 50% of my marks for the year so i need to do this right. I think the only way to get a good mark is to start early. Instead of cramming it in the end. I gotta plan this well, so i'm gonna email my tutors today and start the ball rolling, then read all the relevant stuff by new years. Gotta nail this thing.

I'm actually quite excited about christmas day still, i'm 20 so that should indicate that it might be a bit sad. But i'm still living at home as London is not taking £130 a week from me to live an hour away from here, no way. And my mum buys so much random shit you never know what there's gonna be. My dad doesn't have a clue what she gets, he just has a mini coronary when we open the presents. And i know what i'm gettin this year, just one thing, but it's my football boots!! Never had a real pair before, always had the replicas, but not anymore lads, not anymore!!! Well, if santa decides i've been good enough.....

God Jul!!!

Tour de Romford

Must make a rule not to drink and ride bikes. Mark had his bike out with him last night, so we had to take it home. There's something about having a few drinks that, dangerously, makes me want to drive anything that i can.... Car, Bike, Jet, Horse, whatever, there's just this need for speed.

So started riding this bike, it was set too high for me to start with, plus i had my new jeans on which aren't exactly geared for the outdoor way of life. My first attempt saw me jump on one side and fall off the other side of the bike, much to Matt and Mark's joy. Then i piggy-backed Mark for about 100 meters, which indicated i could neither drive in a straight line or be responsible for another mans life. So i ordered Mark off the back of the bike, sped off for 10 meters, directed the bike to the edge of the curb, got the wheel stuck, stopped then realised my feet wouldn't touch the ground, so ended up in the bushes......

They just laughed at me, I laughed at me, it was bloody hilarious. It was going to happen, i was in no fit state to drive that bike.

And that is my lesson for today. Don't drink and drive. Anything!!

Its all in the jeans

These jeans i got from Nicole are really growing on me. I was a bit unsure at first, they're these slim fit jeans. Not the skinny ones you can't get into or walk in, they're just cut so they hug your leg more. I usually wear these baggy things. When i was in Sweden i felt good wearing them, because people seem to dress in what they like out there, not in a random way, but they wear clothes you'd see and think i really fucking want that, but then you don't buy it because you don't want to stand out.
Well anyway, i decided to wear these jeans in a bit and they're bloody nice. I think if i wear them with a big jacket i look like a fucking globe on toothpicks, as my legs are pretty skinny due to football duties....... and without sounding like a woman, i figured out that if i just wear a t-shirt and jumper, i look alright. When my hair grows back a bit i think i might be wearing these all the time.
So this is my most feminine post ever, but at least i'm not writing about shoes. And Chris Nunez from Miami Ink buys loadsa bloody shoes, and noone calls him gay. So fuck the shut up.

The early bird catches the worm... sometimes

I'm up early today. My dad decided to get drunk at his work party tonight so i had to drive him to work for 9 this morning. I think it's good that he's going out, he rarely does and i think sometimes it's nice to get out there and just chat mindlessly with people. And it's always kinda nice when you don't know the people, as usually everybody makes the effort.

When i was in Hungary in the summer everyone i met was in such a positive and happy mood. Even people that had been having a bad year just threw that aside to have a good time there. I think going and studying in another country is a good thing. Even if you only get the chance to do it for a short period. I mean i'm biased because i met an amazing girl out there, but the whole experience of learning about different cultures, speaking another language cos you have to to get food, and having a bloody good time is just amazing.

I think that people in my town don't really even think of doing that sort of thing. The 'outside world' seems to be perceived as a threat rather than an opportunity to better yourself. I don't like that way of thinking, also you can't let yourself be held back by not having enough money. Thats something you can earn, i didn't have the money for Hungary but i made sure i bloody earnt it. And it was worth it, every hour of scrubbing the yellow stuff off of those showers, the mindless setting up of equipment every weekday with classes at the same time, done the same way and still managing to fuck up the set ups. The moaning and parenting of kids my age acting like little stupid fucking twat faces in the pool, i mean, it's a fucking small square tub of water. There are rules, and why is it suddenly acceptable to act like a cunt once you get a bit wet? All important points that demonstrate how nuts that work made me, but it gave me the money to do what i wanted to do.

So yea, my dad should have a good time tonight. He never goes out but my mum will probably have a go at him in a couple of days time for doing it, but good on you dad. Even though he knows she's in control of him really, he'd die without her.

Managed to be online when Nicole was on too which was a nice feeling. It's so weird not being able to talk to her. She has this ability to make me feel brilliant. All the crap stuff i have to deal with in a day is just meaningless after i've talked to her, she calms me down.

Anyway, i don't mind not talking everyday because she is havin a good holiday and also, I think that if we didn't talk for weeks or months we'd be back to normal within about 30seconds of meeting eachother again. Even so, i'd rather be with her all the time but we're getting closer to that every day.

Was gonna go skiing in London today (yea that's right) but Tony didn't wanna get up so i just went to London early and handed in my books. Tried to pay for my Swedish lessons but the whole language department has gone, maybe they were running a tax scam or somethin. I think they just moved building so i'll phone them later. Gonna meet Dean and go shopping now.

I dunno what this was about, but i guess to summarise, i got up early, got out early, and feel good about it. So get up early, you won't regret it.

Swedish - English

Right, i am currently watching a program with the stupidest setting and premise that it makes me a bit mad. It's called 'Wallander' which is apparently a famous Swedish fiction crime series.

The programme's set in Sweden right, with Swedish murder detectives working in Stockholm i think, on a serious case. There's been more dead bodies than i've seen in any Die Hard movie and this thing is really dramatic and the story has actually got pretty sweet, they're cracking onto a global terrorist network based in Sweden who are gonna steal all the money in the world.

Anyway, my problem with it is, that everyone on the show is meant to be Swedish, yet they're all talking Queen's English. No Swedish, no Swedish accent, just British English. It's stupid, the guy opens his email up and reads it and it's in Swedish but he reads it in British English.

They pulled up in this farm earlier to pick up a hacker kid, and this farmer guy shouts in an east london accent, ''oy mate, what the bloody hell do you think you're doin'?!''. It's weird cos i'm from east london and Nicole's from sweden, so it's like this programme was kinda made with us in mind. It's good cos it gives me an excuse to mention her every 5 mins as she's from that lovely country and i'm sure she'd be equally as wound up about this as well.

Thing is, it makes the police in Sverige look terrible, this guy is the worse cop i've ever seen. So i hope i don't get into trouble when i'm dropped in Vasteras on my own on the 19th cos these guys look rubbish.

Anyways, gotta get my presentation done tomorrow, cos i want a couple of days to practice it.
I think i'm gonna give my presentation in blog form, as i seem to think more clearly when i write on here, so get ready for a nice long talk about Carbohydrate Ingestion at Altitude soon.
I know you'll love it.

The 1st Eleven to beat 'em all

The Defence.

Without solid foundations, every endeavour is doomed to fail.

No. 1

Gianluigi Buffon
Nationality: Italian

D.O.B: 28/01/78 (age 30)

Playing Career: 1995 -present

The Italian giant is the most consistent keeper in my memory. Making his Serie A debut at 17 in 1995 for Parma, he then went on to become the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, moving to Juventus for €52million. In the 2006 World Cup in Germany he kept 5 clean sheets, helping Italy become world champions.
All of this and he is only 30. The italian stallion cuts a huge figure between the posts and easily gets the No. 1 shirt.

No. 2
Cafu

Nationality: Brazilian

D.O.B: 07/06/1970 (age 38)

Playing Career: 1989 - present

What's this? A Brazilian defender? Are you mugging me off mate? Well believe it or not the former Brazil captain was a stalwart of the Brazil defence in the mid to late 90's, becoming Brazil's most capped player at 156 caps, winning 2 world cups in 1994 and 2002, appearing in 3 consecutive world cup finals over this time. This wing back was famed for his attacking prowess and overlapping full back play. Playing his football in Brazil earlier in his career, he moved to spain and then onto the Italian Serie A playing for both Roma and AC Milan. Cafu was born in the favelas of São Paulo and learnt his trade playing football in the streets, eventually making it into the São Paulo team in 1989. A good team plays good football from the back, and his Brazilian composure and technique would allow this team to press forward from the defence.

No. 3
Paolo Maldini
Nationality: Italian
D.O.B: 26/06/1968 (age 40)
Playing Career: 1984 - present
Another Italian, and what would a defence be without an Italian? Maldini has played for only one club in his 24 year top flight career, AC Milan. The legendary centre half made one solitary appearance for AC in 1984 when he was just 16 yrs old. After that year, he became a member of the starting 11 for every successive season. He is now 40yrs old and is the embodiment of the healthy Italian lifestyle allowing many Italian players to play well into their late 30's.

Maldini featured in 8 European Cup finals for Milan and holds 5 European Cup winner's medals. Spending 8 of 16yrs as an International player as the captain shows the consistency and rock solid defensive capabilities of this defensive heavyweight. Maldini makes up the first part of a 3 man defence, gaining the No. 3 shirt.

No. 5

Bobby Moore

Nationality: English

Born: 12/04/1941 Died: 24/02/1993 (age 51)

Playing Career: 1958 - 1978

Bobby Moore was born just down the road from me in Barking, East London, where my dad grew up. He started playing for the local team West Ham United when he was 17.

Moore captained England in the 1966 world cup final, becoming the first and only man to captain a winning English side. He was famed for his supreme footballing abilities, at a time when defenders were classically rough, tough and brutal. Moore was able to read the game, enabling him to make timely tackles and show complete composure with the ball at his feet when defending. Pele described Moore as the fairest defender he played against, which is a testament to Moore's characteristic good nature. I believe he was one of the few defenders of the past who could play at the top level today, making up for his lack of pace with intelligience, something which seems to have evaded many modern players.

This quote from Alf Ramsey, the England manager when England won the '66 world cup, sums up Moore as a player and a person.
"My captain, my leader, my right-hand man. He was the spirit and the heartbeat of the team. A cool, calculating footballer I could trust with my life. He was the supreme professional, the best I ever worked with. Without him England would never have won the World Cup."

We love you Bobby, R.I.P.
............And that concludes the defence.......... Midfield next, tomorrow......... x

Footy

There's a difference between a good football team and a great football team and that difference is consistency. Today, newspapers have the ability to create a storm around players based on their performances in only three or four games. This has been proven to greatly inflate the price tags placed on footballer's heads.

The media has this ability to make or break players as it has an audience, an audience of people looking for heroes. As a kid, there is nothing that can equal the feeling of scoring a goal in the name of one of your heroes. I remember my mates literally smacking eachother around the head as they both wanted to be the same player; 'I wanna be Shearer!!! No i'm shearer you stupid tit' *smack bang wallop*. Sorted with a few wacks.

So playing football is about emulating your heroes, feeling that rush of strength when you score a goal or make a tackle, basically pretending that you're in that stadium in front of 50,000 people.

I decided to list my team of 11 players who I think would beat any team. They're not all exactly who you'd expect to be in an all time best 11. But i've tried to pick players who have a bit of a story an who are, at the end of the day, the best players in their positions.

Agree or disagree, but that's the beautiful thing about football, opinion keeps it interesting.

:P
