There's a difference between a good football team and a great football team and that difference is consistency. Today, newspapers have the ability to create a storm around players based on their performances in only three or four games. This has been proven to greatly inflate the price tags placed on footballer's heads.
The media has this ability to make or break players as it has an audience, an audience of people looking for heroes. As a kid, there is nothing that can equal the feeling of scoring a goal in the name of one of your heroes. I remember my mates literally smacking eachother around the head as they both wanted to be the same player; 'I wanna be Shearer!!! No i'm shearer you stupid tit' *smack bang wallop*. Sorted with a few wacks.
So playing football is about emulating your heroes, feeling that rush of strength when you score a goal or make a tackle, basically pretending that you're in that stadium in front of 50,000 people.
I decided to list my team of 11 players who I think would beat any team. They're not all exactly who you'd expect to be in an all time best 11. But i've tried to pick players who have a bit of a story an who are, at the end of the day, the best players in their positions.
Agree or disagree, but that's the beautiful thing about football, opinion keeps it interesting.
:P
